About us

NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit is proud to be of the NHS and for the NHS. As a health and care decision-maker, we understand that you want to make a difference for your local populations – and we are here to help you do that.

As the bright light at the end of the COVID tunnel becomes ever closer, the health and care challenges we face to restart, recover and renew become apparent.

The perennial challenge of health inequalities, the millions of patients overdue care because of delayed treatment, and the building blocks put in place to tackle the pandemic will no doubt be your focus for years to come. February 2021’s health and care whitepaper set out the reforms that will put the NHS in the best position to respond.

Throughout the pandemic, MLCSU’s resilient business, clinical and consultancy support to CCGs and health systems has helped us tackle the biggest threat to the nation’s health for generations. We were able to contribute quickly and readily to this great national effort – from creating the infrastructure to set up testing and vaccination centres to merging health systems’ data sources to create live, actionable public health intelligence. This has reaffirmed the vital role we have in helping care become more integrated, consistent and better quality.

Our customers have these aims, too… and we know the hard work starts now. This will be a year of challenge and change for CCGs as they evolve to become integrated care systems.

Created from the NHS, for the NHS we can help with the heavy lifting by offering a full range of strategic and operational support. We want to make it easy for health systems to see how we can contribute to their success. Our MDL app helps us do this, and we’ll be adding new support guides, case studies, news and views that showcase our full range of contributions to integrated care. Our nine offers, which you can reach from the home screen, are designed to marry with the challenges and expectations you currently face. Behind each one are committed teams of subject matter experts across a range of disciplines, all working together for your success.

We hope you find MDL a valuable tool in helping you to navigate our comprehensive and complete support offer for the health systems we serve.
